The negotiation between China and the European Union (EU) on electric vehicles (EVs) price commitment has entered final stage, but still requires further efforts from both sides, said a spokesperson of the Chinese Commerce Ministry in a statement on Saturday.
The statement follows a meeting on Tuesday in Paris, France, between Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic.
The two officials engaged in professional and in-depth discussions on the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese EVs, according to the statement.
Providing the update on the progress, the spokesperson said the two sides made a stride forward in the right direction of a proper resolution. The consultations on EV price commitment are currently in their final stage, but further efforts from both sides are still required.
The spokesperson further revealed that EU proposed exploring new technical approaches, and China will assess the feasibility of this proposal from legal and technical perspectives.
Both sides have instructed their working teams to step up efforts to find a mutually acceptable solution, in accordance with their respective laws and WTO rules, to properly address the trade dispute, according to the statement.
